Welyin Rodriguez ran a prostition ring called “GMB”. He lured young girls and young women into the ring in a variety of ways, including promising them jobs as models. Once they agreed, he put them on Backpage.com and forced them to walk the streets to pick up “dates.” The girls and women were forced to give their money to him. To prevent them from leaving, he frequently beat and threatened them. Rodriguez transported several of the victims from Tampa, Florida up through Charlotte, North Carolina on multiple occasions for purposes of prostitution. He was convicted for sex trafficking.
